Winners announced for Gadsden State Cardinals XC 5K
Centre, Ala. – The Gadsden State Community College Cross Country Team hosted its first 5K and one-mile run to raise funds for team travel and equipment. The event took place May 13 at Gadsden State Cherokee.
The event attracted 40 runners who competed for overall trophies and age division medals. Sponsors for the event were Alabama Teachers Credit Union, Quality of Life Cherokee, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, McClellan Chiropractic and Coosa Industrial Supply Inc. Additional support was provided by the City of Centre; Stacy Jones, parks and recreation director; and Shawn rogers, director of the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency.
The Top 3 male runners were Luke Holcombe of Gadsden with a 17:09; Joe Stevens of Ashville with a 17:49; and Ethan Patterson of Hokes Bluff with a 18:21.
The Top 3 female runners were Marlee Tucker of Rainbow City with a 24:02; Victoria Martin of Talladega with a 24:07; and Elizabeth Edge of Hokes Bluff with a 28:07.
